Sørensen moves to Merseyside following her second stint at Brøndby IF (2015–17, 2018–20), where she scored 16 goals in 2018/19 and again in 2019/20, which saw her take the Golden Boot. Prior to Brøndby, Sørensen had two spells in Sweden (with FC Rosengård and Linköpings FC), winning the Damallsvenskan with both teams.

Nicoline Sørensen: “I feel really proud and honoured to be joining Everton. It’s clear from speaking to Willie that the Club is ambitious and it felt like a great match for my next step. The WSL is one of the world’s biggest leagues and the setup around the players here is incredibly professional.”

In terms of her national team career, Sørensen joins Everton having played a part in all of Denmark’s Euro 2022 qualifiers, scoring 4 goals in 5 games, and was part of the squad that took home the silver medal at Euro 2017. Overall, Sørensen has 33 senior caps for Denmark, winning the Danish Young Player of the Year (Talent) in 2016 and being nominated for the Danish Player of the Year in 2019.

Willie Kirk, Manager at Everton: “I’m really excited about Nico’s signing. I’ve been tracking her for a couple of years now, seeing her develop with Brøndby, and becoming a key member of the Denmark starting eleven. We both felt this was the right time for her to move to England and we will now look to take her game to another level.

Nico gives us a lot of options. Her attributes and tactical know-how will allow us to play her in a number of attacking positions and she’ll be a big asset to our squad. She has the right character and drive to continue getting better and will fit well into our ambitious group.”
