Leah Galton signs with FC Bayern Munich

FC Bayern Munich today confirmed the signing of 23-year-old former Sky Blue winger Leah Galton on an 18-month contract, starting 01 January 2018. Galton will wear the #3 shirt and becomes the first Englishwoman to play for the Club.

Galton joins after six years playing in the USA, firstly with Hofstra University in the NCAA (where Leah scored 48 goals in 82 games and became a Second-team All-American), before opting to enter the NWSL Draft. Sky Blue FC drafted the promising striker 13th overall, and Galton played an important role across two seasons with the Club.

Leah has represented England up to U23 level and was previously called up to the England senior squad in September 2016, before opting not to attend due to injury.

Speaking about the move:

Leah Galton: “It’s a dream come true to join Bayern Munich and my biggest challenge yet. Coming here, seeing the facilities and meeting Thomas and his staff has given me a great feeling about joining the Club and I can’t wait to work with them everyday to improve as a player. Bayern is built on a history of success, and I’m looking forward to doing everything I can to achieve total success with these girls.”

Thomas Wörle, Head Coach, FCB: “Leah is a talented, young player with room to continue developing. In Leah, I’m bringing a technically-capable, athletic and goalscoring wingback to our squad.”
